Mission:
The mission of the CT Ground Source Heat Pump Association (CGSHPA) and its membership is to promote public awareness and use of ground source heat pump technology in Connecticut through education and communication.
Section 1. Name
The name of this organization is the Connecticut Chapter of the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association. (CT IGSHPA)
Section 2. Purpose
The purpose of the Connecticut Chapter of the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association is to promote the growth of Connecticut’s ground source (also known as geothermal) industry by:
1. Improving public awareness and education
2. Training installers, builders and designers
3. Establishing an information exchange database including but not limited to performance data, case studies and rebate information
4. Representing the industry in relevant local and state legislative affairs
Section 3. Affiliation
We are an affiliation of the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association
Section 1. Eligibility
In order to obtain membership, each individual must first be a member in good standing of the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association and be actively involved in the ground source industry in Connecticut.
Section 2. Voting Member
Each member in good standing of the Connecticut Chapter of the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association is a voting member.
Section 1. Titles
The Connecticut Chapter of the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association will have four officers with the titles of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer
Section 2. Eligibility
To be eligible for an officer position, a member must exhibit willingness and actively participate in chapter activities.
Section 3. Election
All officers will be elected by a simple majority of the voting members to serve a term of one year. At least ten percent of the membership must be present to constitute a quorum. The tenure of any office shall not exceed three (3) one-year terms.
Section 4. Responsibilities
4a. President – The president shall preside over chapter meetings, conduct and count votes and appoint special committees as deemed necessary.
4b. Vice President – The vice president shall preside over chapter meetings in the absence of the president, oversee the progress of all committees and record attendance.
4c. Secretary – The Secretary shall maintain the directory of members, draw up and distribute agendas prior to each meeting and send minutes of each meeting to all members.
4d. Treasurer – The treasurer shall be responsible for maintaining the chapter budget, collecting dues and filing taxes on behalf of the organization.
Section 5. Tenure of Appointments
All officers will serve a term of (1) year. Should an officer resign, their position may be filled at the next regular meeting and take effect immediately. No tenure shall exceed (3) one-year terms.
Section 1. Name
The name of this guidance body is the executive board of the Connecticut Chapter of the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association.
Section 2. Purpose
The purpose of the executive board is to represent the membership and provide direction in accomplishing the purpose of the organization.
Section 3. Board Composition
The executive board will be composed of a maximum of nine (9) voting members. The four chapter officers and five committee heads will make up the board.
Section 4. Eligibility
To be eligible for election to the executive board, a member must exhibit willingness and actively participate on the tasks of the board.
Section 5. Executive Board Meetings
The executive board will meet each month and draw up an agenda for the following chapter meeting. Executive board meetings may be held more frequently if needed.
Section 1. Time, Place and Attendance
Chapter meetings will be held monthly at a time and place to be voted upon by the chapter. The president will take attendance at each meeting and run the meeting according to Robert’s Rules of Order.
Section 1. Names and Purposes
1a. Public Relations Committee – This committee focuses on advertisements on behalf of the group and prepares any relevant press releases and maintains the website.
1b. Community Outreach Committee – This committee organizes community service activities, including geothermal tours.
1c. Education Committee – This committee is responsible for organizing educational events geared at audiences of all levels, from professional engineers to homeowners.
1d. Standards Committee – Maintains a list of Connecticut accredited installers, drillers and certified designers. Prepares and presents feedback on behalf of the chapter to any local, state, or federal organization legislating geothermal regulations.
1e. Information Exchange Committee – This committee oversees the sharing of information between members and maintains a database of case studies and rebate information.
These constitutional articles may be amended at any regular meeting by a two-thirds vote of the chapter members present. Due notice of the proposed amendments shall be given to the President at least 30 days prior to the meeting and distributed to the members of the chapter at least two weeks prior to the regular meeting. Following the vote, the amendments become effective immediately.
