ALL SOURCES THAT CURRENTLY COMPLY WITH THE CLEAN AIR ACT (CAA) MUST COMPLY WITH NEW EPA GREENHOUSE GAS (GHG)

(CO2 and others) EMISSION RULES INCLUDING MANY MINOR SOURCES FOR ALL OTHER POLLUTANTS STARTING IN JANUARY 2011 OR PHASE 2 WHICH BEGAN ON JULY 1ST

This audio conference will:

Provide key insights and analysis of EPA’s existing and future agenda for regulating greenhouse gases (GHGs) under the Clean Air Act (CAA)

•Review EPA's Clean Air Act (CAA) guidance establishing new permitting programs for GHG emissions

•Discuss extension of current PSD and Title V permitting requirements/processes to GHGs

•Evaluate EPA’s proposal to develop new source performance standards (NSPS) this year

•Explain Best Achievable Control Technology (BACT) and EPA recommended GHG Control Measures

•Evaluate potential costs and compliance impacts on US businesses

•Discussion on how EPA is planning to treat emissions from renewable biomass

•Review strategic planning considerations & potential compliance/risk exposures

Over the next few years EPA’s new GHGs regulations will place a HUGE cost burden on US businesses, large and small alike, including universities/colleges, medical centers/hospitals, and municipalities,

among other sectors. Many facilities MUST begin to comply with new GHG rules as of January, or Phase 2 as of July 1st

Our speaker, is a renowned international climate change (GHG/CO2) and Clean Air Act expert, who until recently, served as EPA Chief Legal Counsel, supervising 350 EPA attorney's,

while representing the Agency before the Supreme Court on six Supreme Court decisions; including Massachusetts v. EPA, (wherein the Court's findings established the legal framework that EPA

is citing in its efforts to regulate Greenhouse Gas Emissions), will share key GHG regulatory insights, and analysis.

This conference will help you to better understanding the new, complex, EPA GHG regulations, so you can effectively assess, and manage, the potential costs you face in 2011, and beyond,

while strategically planning for future compliance challenges, and investments, to best minimize the impact on your bottom line.

Aug 10 webinar

Good afternoon everyone,

As most of you do work on new homes, I thought I'd pass this link along: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/196964521

It is a free webinar from the EPA on Energy Star Ver. 3 geared at HVAC contractors.  They will be discussing the credentialing requirements as well as the version 3 process itself.  Currently, new homes must participate in Energy Star certification to be eligible for the geo rebates from the utilities and clean energy fund.

Happy viewing!

March 29

Good morning,

My name is Jessica Cajigas and I work for the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC).  NEIWPCC is a non-profit organization that works on water (Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act) issues for the six New England States and New York State. NEIWPCC is holding a Northeast Regional Geothermal Workshop for state and federal staff members on March 29, 2011.  The states in our region are in varying stages of regulating geothermal systems and further information and discussion on the topic is of interest to our NEIWPCC Workgroups and our member states.

The workshop will be held at the EPA lab in North Chelmsford, MA.  Again, our intended audience is staff from the state environmental and health agencies and EPA, and our focus will be on environmental protection concerns, design standards/recommendations, and existing & future regulations for geothermal systems.  We have some great speakers lined-up already, but we are looking for one or two more to talk about interesting case studies in our region.  It was suggested to me to visit the IGSPA website and contact some local Certified GeoExchange Designers, and that is where I got your contact information.

I am looking for one presentation to discuss environmental concerns or potential impacts that were encountered during an installation and how those impacts were avoided or designed around.  (For example, maybe where boreholes were installed within a zone I of a drinking water supply.)  Another presentation we are looking for is if anyone has experience developing design standards or well construction guidelines, or maybe developing a model local ordinance or bylaw concerning installation.

Again, the focus of the workshop is for state  officials to learn more about and discuss the state of the technology/how systems are going in, environmental concerns, design standards, and existing regulations and whether additional regulation is warranted. Each presentation has a 25 minute time slot, so I am recommending 20 to 22 minutes for the talk and then a couple minutes for questions.  One thing I do have to point out is that we do not have a budget for travel reimbursement.  If you have a presentation that you think would fit within this agenda I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you further.

Thank you and I hope you have a great day.

Jessica
